Garments I have made in the past

Shirt project
A shirt project from college. My task was to take three different shirts, cut them up and create something new. I made a halter neck using the sleeves, added box pleats, bound button holes and a oversized bow. The front of the top had a draping effect. I was pleased how the shirt turned out as it helped me with my other shirt project in the first year of university.

Mark's and Spencer's pretty punk project
A past project from college, I got the chance to design a skirt for Limited Collection featured in Mark's and Spencer's store in York. It was a great opportunity for me to learn more about the store as I already work for the company it gave me new skills within the fashion industry.
My inspiration for the project was inspired by the Punk era including Vivienne Westwood designs and The Sex Pistols. Therefore I made and designed a mini tartan high- waisted skirt including box pleats, suspenders and an oversized bow.

Tailoring practices
This was a recent project studied in my second year at University. After gathering different tailoring techneiques such as stitches, button holes, collar and reveres, darts and shoulder pads I then went onto making half a jacket which I designed.
For my design I added a curve cut on the bias on the sleeve which consisted of two different styles of taioring fabric. I then added a pointed collar and revere, I also added shoulder pads. I found tailoring one of my harder projects but once I understood each part more clearly it became easier.

swinging 60's project
A project from college. A project based on the 60's i researched into Mary Quant, Twiggy, Mod's and The Beetles. I then had to design and make a skirt based on this. I was inspired by a dress Twiggy wore in the sixties in which I designed my own version of the pattern and added it onto a mini skirt.

Money based project
For GCSE level i was inspired by Karen O from the band The Yeah Yeah Yeah's. Karen O was pictured wearing a dress with printed money. I took inspiration from this and created my own puffball dress style by transfering the money onto the fabric. I added cross stitched dollar signs, netting and a corset style back with lace.

Making my own fabric
This was a recent project done in my first year at university. This was one of my projects that i most enjoyed. I fused different styles of fabric together added with felt letters and silk fibres. I then added a lable and hanger for the final result. I was extremerly pleased with the result. I have recently taken this to a McQueen interveiw in which they were thrilled.

Final thrash collection
My final collection for college was based on 'Thrash' this includes an individual style including shiny bright fabrics, oversized bows, ruffles, thrills, embellishment and attention to detail.
I added hoops in two of the the garments for a shock factor on the catwalk.

Design Application
This is a recent project done at university. I had to make a vintage inspired garment i chose to do a fairly simple dress as the time was quite consuming. I added puffed sleeves, a patch pocket with embroidery motif, pleats, peter pan collar and bound buttonholes. I was pleased with the final result but felt that the button holes could have been a lot neater.
